E-tail, otherwise known as shopping on line, is what EVERYONE is doing now-a-days. Even people who can be bothered to go to the malls, prefer to shop online. With the free shipping and free returns policy that most websites offer, there really isn't any risk and you can't beat the convenience. So, with the boom of e-tail, it's no wonder retail stores are struggling. This is why it's shocking to me that some retail stores are competing against themselves with their own websites. For example: J.Crew's online store offers you 25% discount on purchases over $150. I was interested in buying one of my "Fun Fall Jackets" but was worried about how it fit so I went into the store to try it on. When I asked them if they would offer the same deal as their website, they told me that it was only an internet deal. Well, unfortunately for them, I walked out of the store and bought it online and saved $78. Coming from a retail business mind, I just don't get it. I can understand not honoring the deal if it was a different brand, but it's the same! Has this happened to you?
