Not Your Ordinary Gifts

I have been asked to post more gift giving ideas so I've decided to go all out "kitch" to save me from the boredom of shopping for ordinary ones.   I think these are fun gift ideas and things anyone would enjoy receiving even though they wouldn't have thought of them.  During my cyber search, I discovered a great website called www.uncommongoods.com.   They have a great selection of kitch gifts and they are environmentally friendly as well.  Also, you will notice more owl suggestions...I'm obsessed!!

Need I say anything? Cute, cute, cute bath mat.  You all know this will be in my newly themed bathroom in 2012 (yes, I have themes!).  You can find this at ModCloth.com.

Anthropologie has the best selection of decorative knobs.  If this owl one does not suit you (how can it not though?), you must check out the other selections.  I'd suggest going into a store rather than online because it's just a nicer visual.  Trust me, decorative knobs make a huge statement.

And, in case you can't get enough of owls, these are cute salt and pepper shakers from Pier 1 Imports.

This is just one of the "uncommon" gift ideas I found on UncommonGoods.com.  These are shower squids!  They have adjustable tentacles for gripping soap, shampoo, razor etc.  How odd, how awesome!

Slipper socks are the best!! They are less bulky than regular slippers and are super cute to boot!  Find these critter socks and other designs at Urban Outfitters.

I found these on www.thefind.com.  This is an awesome search engine website.  I put in "women's colored rain boots" and voila, hundreds of selections!  How cute is this quilting detail?  These are from a super random website www.discountwomensdressshoes.com but cute is cute.

$16.99 (85% off!)

Okay enough with the "cute" but seriously..... You can throw this in the random category but that's the kind of stuff I usually find at Urban Outfitters and I love it!

What's wrong with bringing a lunch box to work?  Make it cool with this one and people will for sure be talking about it at the water cooler.  Find it at ModCloth.com.

This 6-in-1 hammer was actually not even on the list until I had to put on a decorative knob (true story) and pulled the one I have out of my junk drawer.  It was then that I realized I must put this on the list.  It is the handiest tool!  I don't remember where I got mine but I found this one on Amazon.

Just like my "losing keys" issue, I have a "forgetting password" issue too.  I at least have it down to 4 passwords, but I keep forgetting which password goes where and when I figure it out, I swear I'm going to remember (not).  Keep them all in this little password reminder book from UncommonGoods.com.

Instead of seeing this as a paper weight (which it technically is), I like to see it as a daily mantra plaque.  I'd put this on my desk to see it everyday, not on top of a bunch of papers.  This is from UncommonGoods.com.

I saw this years ago and have always thought it was cool.  It's kinda like a coffee table book, something to keep your guests visually stimulated.  I was surprised to find out these 8 cubes can form 16 million phrases.  I can't wrap my head around that!  This is from UncommonGoods.com too.

$15

I saw this gal, Mindy Kaling, on the Chelsea Lately show (love that show, btw).  She is on the TV show Community.  I don't watch that show but I found her hilarious during the interview.  She has written this book and it sounds like an LOL kind of book.  I'm sure you can find this at a lot of places but I found it at Urban Outfitters.

I have a metal wallet case that I use when I go out and have a smaller bag.  They open like old school cigarette cases.  Super fun and convenient way to carry license, credit cards and cash.  These are from UncommonGoods.com.

I don't normally like scented candles but this "aloha" scented candle from Anthropologie is delicious!  It's not sickly sweet or super spicy.  It has a very good burn life too.  The vintage like canister gives it a sense of sophistication.

As you probably can guess by now, Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores.  I can get lost for hours in there.  I just love trinket boxes and anything trinket catching.  So if you know someone like me, this is a perfect gift.

Wi"nerd" is right but I love this!  I don't think I'd do very well but we all know people who know (or think they know) a lot about wine.  This would be a perfect gift for them!  This is from UncommonGoods.com.
