Top 10 Rules to Mastering the "Art of Jeans"
- Be prepared to spend at least $200. Think of it as an investment.
- Err on the side of long vs short. Floods are never okay.
- Stay away from black denim unless you are in your 20's and look like you work at Urban Outfitters.
- Know your measurements. The real ones, not the ones you wish for. Go up a size if you have muffin top issues.
- Avoid a lot of whiskers (bleached out creases) by the crotch and busy embroidery on back pockets.
- If you're going to go cheap (sigh), go for darker denim. The washes are a big part of the cost so if you go for cheap, the lighter ones will look it.
- Look for brands that also do woman's jeans. They tend to be more fashionable.
- The lower the back pockets, the better the booty looks.
- If you're confused with all the cuts offered, go with straight leg (hint: relaxed = wider legs).
- If you feel the urge to pull up your waistband, get a smaller size or wear a belt. Never do the "Seinfeld" look.
